Bringing together some of the most energetic acts and powerful voices in Atlantic Canada, the event is in celebration of the music and arts community, and recognizes the contributions from friends and peers. The goal of SUPPORT ACTS is to raise funds for all-inclusive charities that support mental health and well-being. Through a night of fun, dancing, singing at the top of your lungs, and letting it all go, we can all come together to heighten awareness for incredible organizations that fund essential services, and help lift the stigmas surrounding mental health.

We are excited to announce that the first annual SUPPORT ACTS has partnered with the Ladies Beer League in support of the Unison Benevolent Fund, and brings us together to acknowledge the incredible vulnerability that it takes to make a living in music.

How many times have we relied on a song to say exactly what we wanted to say, when we couldn’t find the words ourselves? Let’s come together for a night to support those who we let speak up for us, when sometimes they struggle to speak up for themselves.

This night is for you: If you’re a musician, if you’re a music lover, or if you just love supporting a cause. We hope to see you there.

About the Charity:

The Unison Benevolent Fund is an assistance program – created and administered for the music community, by the music community – designed to provide discreet relief to music industry professionals in times of crisis. There are two distinct types of support available through the fund.

Financial Assistance. The Unison Benevolent Fund will provide emergency financial support to Canadian music makers recovering from an illness, injury or other circumstances that result in an inability to work, severe economic or personal hardship.

Counselling and Health Solutions. Through voluntary and confidential support services, eligible Canadian music makers are able to access qualified professionals who can provide counselling and other resources to support individuals and their immediate family members dealing with health, legal, relationships or work-related concerns.

The Unison Benevolent Fund is funded by support from individuals and industry organizations. All services and information is provided in English and French.

SUPPORT ACTS features:

Jessie Brown – Halifax Doom-Soul - Luring you in with her powerful and expressive voice, Jessie brown is a siren perched atop the rocky shores of Halifax, Nova Scotia. With her power trio's dark and moody take on alternative soul, they’re described as Aretha Franklin singing for Queens of the Stone Age. This doom soul trio will entice you to shore, crush your expectations, and keep your heart as a souvenir.

Worst Part – Halifax Stoner Rock - It’s loud. It’s fast. It’s noisy. It’s also a little sweaty. WORST PART is a three-piece stoner rock band. Since the release of their first EP, HEEL, the band has been on the move: performing across the Atlantic Canadian provinces, and in their hometown of Halifax, causing a stir wherever they go with unparalleled energy on stage. Distorted chainsaw riffs, grimy bass tones, and drums that push it all forward and over the edge.

Which Witch is Which – Moncton Power-Punk - Heavy hitting rhythm section, screeching Mosrite guitars and catchy scream-along vocals, Moncton’s Which Witch is Which is the Maritime answer to the age old question: How can we make it louder and faster?

No, It's Fine. – Halifax Emo Revival - Pretty much exactly the kind of music you would expect a Nova Scotian who visited Philadelphia once and then never stopped talking about it to make.
